Like a dream
Like a dream it begins as a seed in the mind
It takes you on a flight only to have you find
That in the waking light you have to climb
Was it mere blurred images or something more?
Perhaps a providential sign
Mystical experiences begin with earthly toil
For they only appear after overcoming a foil
And like a mirage that’s real, but just for the seer
And perhaps verifiable with the proper dream reader
But I gander it’s meant to give heart and be a test of its mettle
Offering the aroma of tea leaves to the boiling kettle
The will to keep going and not prematurely settle
But like a dream it can be vague and grow distant
Melodies that were there allowed to fade into whispers
Unless night’s secrets spur day into opening with wisdom
And the alternation of two fulfill the meant to be system
