Pain drives me

Pain drives me
It inspires me
It doesn’t lie to me

It questions my objectivity
It returns me to humility
It exposes my hypocrisy

One can learn to understand, comprehend
And even accept pain
Yet it remains its’ definition
Requiring patient perseverance

It returns me to Allah
Not in a cursory fashion

If the circle leads to closeness
And renewed forgiveness from Him

Pain for those moments
Becomes unparalleled bliss
